Essex and Wales collide as Gavin and Stacey fall in love and take their friends, family and luggage with them. Apart from the scenes filmed in London in the first episode, the entire series, including the scenes set in Wales, was filmed in Essex Wales. The house that served as Shipmans’ House (Gavin’s family) is in Dinas Powys, a village 1 mile (1.6 km) north-west of Barry, where the Wests (Stacey’s family) live. In Series 3, Bryn and Gavin’s cars have completely different registration numbers than in the previous series. Gavin’s blue Saxo has been changed from T-reg (MR 1999) to X-reg (MR 2000). Bryn’s green Picasso has been changed from CV02 (MR 2002, registered Cardiff) to HV54 (MR 2004, registered Portsmouth). They are clearly different cars. Featured in Gavin & Stacey: Reproach (2007). I have to say I don’t quite understand the previous reviewer as I think he’s on a different planet to anyone else and I felt compelled to set the record straight. Gavin & Stacey is one of the best comedies I’ve seen in years. Featuring an amazing cast and a brilliantly written script by Ruth Jones and James Cordon. The series follows Gavin (an Essex lad) and Stacey (a Barry Island receptionist) who begin their relationship over the phone at work. The feedback for the series has been so good that a second series has already been commissioned.
